Football coaches may nominate high school seniors who deserve to be a member of the traveling Team Stars & Stripes select squad as much for their conduct off the field as their performances on the gridiron by contacting Patrick Steenberge on 817-219-7274 or by email: Patrick@GlobalFootball.com.
The squad will travel to Greece and Italy from March 31 through April 7, taking in the Acropolis & Parthenon, Syntagma Square, Parliament & Omonoia in the historic city of Athens. They will enjoy beach time in Glyfada before flying to Naples and traveling on to discover the lost city of Pompeii. Once in Rome, the group will take a tour of the Coliseum & Roman Forum, the Pantheon, the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel & St. Peter’s Basilica, Trevi Fountain & Spanish Steps.
To cap off the spectacular week, the team will then face a local Italian team on a special game day in Rome.
Since 2008, Global Football has organized the Global Ambassadors Bowl, which provides opportunity of a lifetime for deserving student-athletes to travel internationally, while playing the sport they love while serving as ambassadors for their school, state, nation and themselves.
Team Stars & Stripes head coach Bill Gallagher, who has led the Americans previously in Italy and Spain, will again take charge of the select roster.
The Global Ambassadors Bowl traces its origins back to Japan in 2008 and has taken high-school aged travelers and mentoring coaches to Europe and Asia to expand their appreciation of the world, make new friends and play football. In 2017, China was introduced to the series. Formerly known as the Global Bowl, the series has graced Japan (2008 and 2009), France / Belgium (2010), Germany (2011), Italy (2012, 2013 and 2015), Spain (2014) and Czech Republic / Germany (2016), with Team Stars & Stripes boasting an 8-2 record.
