Catholic Athletes For Christ

The Global Football Foundation is proud to have formed an alliance with Catholic Athletes For Christ.

The Global Football Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is delighted to announce a working alliance with Catholic Athletes For Christ (CAC), noting the strong commitment both groups have towards youth, experiential education, and athletics.  The Global Football Foundation was formed to highlight similar goals.

CAC logoLaunched in 2006, Catholic Athletes for Christ serves Catholic athletes in the practice of their faith and shares the Gospel in and through sports, and works with athletes at all levels of sport in an effort to promote a Catholic sports culture.  CAC’s goal is to provide an integrated network of sports oriented clergy and lay people to serve Catholic athletes, coaches, and staff in the practice of their faith and to utilize the unique platform given to them to reach the world for Jesus Christ and His Church.

Since 1996, Global Football has consistently provided amateur football players, coaches, families and fans the opportunity to travel and compete internationally with people of differing cultures, producing games and tours in 28 countries on 6 continents.  More than 350 teams and 15,000 curious travelers have encountered a positive life-changing experience, while enjoying the ultimate team-building opportunity.

“There is a natural synergy between our two organizations,” said Global Football Founder & President Patrick Steenberge.  “We have been proud to work with many schools and travelers who share the same ideology as Catholic Athletes for Christ and we pride ourselves on instilling positive values in all who travel overseas with Global Football.  I am excited for us to work on several new ventures together.”

In 2018, the Global Football Foundation and Catholic Athletes for Christ will join forces to organize the Roma Bowl – a unique 7-on-7 football tournament to be held in Italy that will allow teams, families and friends to enjoy the wonders of Rome and the Vatican, while competing with other American and European high school teams.

“CAC is thrilled to be expanding our growing alliance with the Global Football Foundation,” said Ray McKenna, President, Catholic Athletes For Christ.  “Both organizations share the mission and desire to use football to serve our student athletes through expanding their opportunities to interact and serve others throughout the world.  Bringing our uniquely American sport on display in the Eternal City of Rome – the cradle of our Catholic faith – is especially gratifying to us.”
