Field Hockey

Since 2012, Ireland has hosted three major college football games featuring Notre Dame vs Navy, Penn State vs Central Florida and Boston College vs Georgia Tech. Alongside each of these events, staged in 2012, 2014 and 2016, Global Football has proudly brought high school football to the Emerald Isle. Twenty different schools from nine states have savored this educational sports experience and now, with Notre Dame and Navy returning to Dublin to play on August 29, 2020, we are thrilled to partner again with Anthony Travel and Ireland American Events Limited to create the Dublin High School Football Showcase 2020.

Schools are always invited to bring along their cheerleaders, marching bands, families, friends and alumni, as our 6-to-7-day tours of Ireland can be customized to fit the schedules and interests of each specific group. For 2020 we are thrilled to welcome girls’ high school Field Hockey to the educational travel opportunities that are available to quality schools with visionary leadership and community support!

The University College of Dublin (UCD) has always been our host for football practices, and one football game in 2014, as Director of Sport Brian Mullins totally believes in athletics being an integral component of education. We at Global Football share in this mission.

The UCD Hockey stadium is a world-class facility, is recognized as one of the finest playing surfaces anywhere and is situated on the expansive campus located on Dublin’s prestigious south side. Nine past or present UCD Ladies Hockey team players were members of the Ireland team that won the silver medal at the 2018 World Cup, the team has won the Irish National Championship the past two years, and with its newly installed water-based Astroturf pitch (field) is positioned to host Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers. UCD Hockey is eager to host the GIFT Field Hockey Showcase, allowing up to 4 U.S. high school teams to compete against one another, as well as Irish teams, as part of the overall Aer Lingus College Football Showcase.
