NFLHS.com launches NFL Global Junior Championship section; Games to be streamed live over the Internet

NFLHS.com has launched an NFL Global Junior Championship VIII section dedicated to the all-star tournament to be played in Houston during the week of Super Bowl XXXVIII.

A link from the Internet’s home of high school football takes web surfers to the latest news from the international event and includes details on how to buy tickets, the tournament schedule and directions to Tully Stadium, where games will be played on January 28 and 31.

On game day the site will feature live audio coverage of all First Round Games and Medal Games courtesy of the Texas Sports Radio Network. There will also be game recaps posted on NFLHS.com at the conclusion of each game.

“We are delighted to again work with the NFL Global Junior Championship and take our coverage to another level this year,” said MIKKO SIMON of NFLHS.com. “This is an exciting tournament that annually showcases high school players not only from the United States, but from around the world.”

The popular website currently features the rosters of competing teams USA, Canada, Japan, Russia and Mexico and news of the tournament’s progress since it was first played at Super Bowl XXXI in New Orleans in 1997. Fans can keep up to date with the teams as they attend a welcome banquet, hit the practice field, hold a press conference at the Super Bowl XXXVIII Media Center and enjoy their time in the city of Houston. “Adding live audio coverage to our section on NFLHS.com is a major boost,” said NFL Global Junior Championship organizer PATRICK STEENBERGE. “Now the families of players visiting from other countries can track their sons’ progress and experience the thrill of game day as can fans of Texas high school football.”

The NFL Global Junior Championship VIII action begins at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28 at Tully Stadium in Houston. Games are played over two seven-minute halves and the top two teams from the round robin shootout will meet in the Championship Game at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31. Tickets are available priced $6 per day from Katy, Stratford, Memorial, Cy-Fair and Cypress Creek high schools.

Ends.
