Stars come out for NFL Global Junior
Championship VIII
Houston Texans kick returner JJ Moses to
attend First Round games at Tully Stadium;
Texas Tech star quarterback BJ Symons to speak to all-stars
at Welcome Banquet
HOUSTON TEXANS kick off and punt returner JJ
MOSES will lend his support to the NFL Global Junior
Championship VIII when he attends the tournament’s first
round games on Wednesday, January 28.
Moses, who amassed more than 1,500 return yards
for the Texans this season will, visit Tully Stadium to watch
Mexico take on Canada and Team USA face Japan from 6:00 p.m.
this Wednesday. He will also dedicate some time to meeting
Texans fans and signing autographs during his visit to the
international Super Bowl XXXVIII event.
Texas Tech quarterback BJ SYMONS
will address the 36-man rosters of Team USA, Russia, Japan,
Mexico and Canada on Monday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m. The record-setting
passer will speak at the annual NFL Global Junior Championship
banquet at Don Coleman Coliseum, which brings together all
tournament players, coaches and host families from local high
schools.
Moses is a quick, explosive wide receiver /
returner with great vision and route-running ability who was
signed by the Texans as a free agent. He spent the 2002 NFL
Europe season with the Scottish Claymores and was an all-league
selection as a return man.
Symons set the NCAA single-season mark with
5,336 passing yards and led the nation in nearly every passing
and total offense category, including touchdowns passes (48),
passing yards per game (444.7) and total offense yards per
game (456.3). He also turned in the third-best single-game
passing performance in NCAA history with 661 yards in a come-from-behind
win at Mississippi.
Symons starred at Cypress Creek High School
in Houston, where he completed 126 passes in 228 attempts
for 1,597 and 11 touchdowns during his senior season.
The NFL Global Junior Championship VIII action
begins at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28. USA first plays
Russia (2.40pm), then Canada (4.20pm), Japan (6.50pm) and
Mexico (8.30pm), all at Tully Stadium over two seven-minute
halves. The top two teams from the round robin shootout will
meet in the Championship Game at 4:00 p.m. on the eve of Super
Bowl XXXVIII, Saturday, January 31.
