Student-athletes who travel to Italy to compete in the Roma VII-on-VII Bowl from June 10-17, 2018, will have an opportunity to take part in a combine and have their results shared nationally with recruiters across the United States.

Dwight Thomas, the Recruiting Director of XOS Digital Recruiting & Scouting, will run a combine for all participants in the Roma VII-on-VII Bowl and the accompanying Big Men’s Skills Contest for linemen and non-skill position players. Each player’s statistics will then be made available to all XOS Digital Recruiting clients throughout college football.

Thomas is a member of the Florida High School Football Hall of Fame and coached legendary All-Pro NFL running back Emmitt Smith at Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida.

The Big Men’s competition will be directed by former Green Bay Packers and All-Ivy League lineman Jacob Flores. He is no stranger to Europe, having spent 10 weeks coaching with the Barcelona Búfals of the Spanish league and privately trains offensive linemen in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

“The Roma VII-on-VII Bowl already provides a wonderful opportunity to explore one of the most breathtaking cities of the world, while playing high-quality football and now those taking part can enhance their profile if they aim to play at the next level, by participating in the combine,” said Global Football founder and president Patrick Steenberge.

“For high school football teams that would like to travel overseas, but see taking a full roster as a logistical challenge, this is a great way to go on the journey of a lifetime with a smaller squad and without equipment. It is a very family-friendly event as everyone who travels will be allowed on the sideline to cheer on their team.”

Organizer Global Football, along with partner Catholic Athletes for Christ (CAC), are inviting all teams of 7-on-7 players at the varsity, JV and freshman level to take part in the event, which will also feature local Italian and other European teams and guarantees four non-contact games in the passing-only format. Linemen will take part in a Big Men’s Skills Contest on a nearby field.

When not focusing on football, visitors will enjoy the wonders of ancient Rome, the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, Capuchin Crypt, Domitilla Catacombs, Basilica of San Clemente’s underground to visit the Eternal City, and much more. We are thankful that Catholic Athletes for Christ will be instrumental in helping us gain special access to rarely-see places

“Rome has always been a favorite destination for our travelers during the past 20 years and taking part in this tournament is the perfect way to enjoy all its sights and play some exciting and competitive football,” added Steenberge.
