FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Global Football and Kiwanis Club of Panama to Present Puerto Rico Legacy vs. Panama Sharks
International American Football Showcase Set for Saturday, September 5, at 8:00 p.m. in Panama
PANAMA CITY, Panama — Global Football, in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Panama, will present an international American football showcase on Saturday, September 5, at 8:00 p.m., as Puerto Rico Legacy faces the Panama Sharks in Emilio Royo Stadium.
The event marks the first international American football competition for Legacy Puerto Rico, as the program works to expand its brand and grow the sport on the island. Legacy is led by an accomplished leadership team headed by Zae Olmo and her son Gerardo Rodriguez. Gerardo also serves as the groups founder and Head Coach.
Saturday’s matchup continues a working relationship between Global Football and the Kiwanis Club of Panama. This is not the first event the organizations have produced together. Previous collaborations and Kiwanis-supported international dates have included Panama Sharks travel and competition in numerous events over the past two decades, in multiple different countries, as well as home international contests such as the Kiwanis Panama Bowl series against Querétaro, Mexico.
Organizers credit the leadership of the Kiwanis Club of Panama and Raul Mendez with making the event possible. Mendez, president of the Kiwanis Football League, has helped build one of the region’s most established youth football programs, developing the Panama Sharks as a selection of the league’s top players and creating the infrastructure required to host international competition.
The Panama Sharks represent the Kiwanis Football League, now in its 53rd season, a year-round program spanning contact and flag football and serving more than 1,500 young athletes.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, in Panama.
