U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Edward S. Walsh to Perform Ceremonial Coin Flip at 2026 Global Ireland Football Tournament
Dublin, Ireland – Global Football is honored to announce that U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Edward S. Walsh will conduct the ceremonial coin flip for the 2026 Global Ireland Football Tournament (G.I.F.T.) American football game on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Energia Park in Dublin.
Ambassador Walsh previously performed the coin toss at the 2025 G.I.F.T. event, and organizers are delighted to welcome him back for a second consecutive year. His continued participation underscores the strong ties between the United States and Ireland and highlights the role of sports diplomacy in fostering cross-cultural connections.

The 2026 G.I.F.T. feature matchup will see Grapevine Faith Christian School of Texas face Ambassador Christian School of North Carolina, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. local time. The event forms part of the broader Aer Lingus College Football Classic weekend and continues Global Football’s long-standing tradition of bringing high-school American football to Ireland.
