2020 DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SHOWCASE / CATHOLIC ATHLETES FOR CHRIST (CAC) MOST VALUABLE TRAVELER AWARD

Traveling overseas with Global Football is about so much more than playing a game of football, cheerleading, or marching in the band on foreign soil, while enjoying sightseeing in some of the most picturesque parts of the world.

On every international journey, leaders and inspirational student-athletes and members of the traveling party of fine moral character often stand out from the crowd. We call them our ‘Most Valuable Travelers.’

When high school football programs from across the United States venture to Ireland in August 2020 to showcase their talents as the curtain raiser to the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, those leaders will be recognized with a CAC Most Valuable Traveler award. The recipient might be a member of the football team or the marching band or a cheerleader or a field hockey player; as selected by the school and team coaches and administrators.

Catholic Athletes for Christ, an organization that serves Catholic athletes in the practice of their faith and shares the Gospel in and through sports, will present the awards to those honored for their leadership. Four football teams, a field hockey team, cheerleaders and their families and friends will travel to Ireland with Global Football and while not all will be Catholic schools, all will receive recognition.

“We are delighted to be able to recognize those travelers who take it upon themselves to become leaders when representing their school and their country overseas,” said Patrick Steenberge, president and founder of Global Football. “In 2012, when we first took teams to Ireland for this event, honoring those student-athletes proved to be very popular, so we look forward to identifying deserving young men and women while we are in Ireland in 2020.”

This partner event of the 2020 Aer Lingus College Football Classic will include fascinating educational tours, a spectacular Dublin city center parade of all teams and cheerleaders, an American-style Pep Rally, and an opportunity to watch the University of Notre Dame and Navy play at Aviva Stadium on Saturday, August 29.
